EU calls on Israel to swiftly probe shooting, paralysing Palestinian youth

The Palestinian youth, the EU said, was shot while defending his property after demolition of his house by Israel in contravention of international law.

European Union Delegation to the Palestinians called on Friday for Israel to swiftly and fully investigate shooting and paralysing Palestinian youth from zero-point distance in Masafer Yatta, south of occupied West Bank.

“Yesterday (Friday) Israeli forces shot 24-year-old Haroun Abu Aram in his community of Abu Rakeez, Massafer Yatta,” the EU Delegation said in a tweet.

“The incident occurred while Haroun - whose family was rebuilding its house, demolished in contravention of international law by Israeli forces in November - was defending his property,” the EU Delegation added.

“The injuries he sustained left Haroun paralysed from the neck down. The EU opposes such excessive and disproportionate use of force and calls on the Israeli authorities to swiftly and fully investigate this serious incident in order to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
