Israeli Army Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi threatened on Wednesday that his army is to attack civilian targets in Gaza and Lebanon in case of waging warns in the future.
“The IDF is making a great effort to increase its bank of targets, to make plans that can be carried out with their own directives,” he said during a conference organised online by the Institute for National Security Studies of Tel Aviv University.
He said that these targets were liable to raise concerns in Israel and abroad as many are located in civilian areas.
Along the history of Israeli aggression on the Palestinians, the Israeli army have targeted Palestinian civilian targets, including schools, hospitals, mosques, homes and communication, electricity, water and sewage infrastructures.
International investigators have several times looked into Israeli claims that the civilian targets were used by the Palestinian resistance and proved that the Israeli claims were false.
Kohavi said that Israel has to prepare itself and its army to see attacking civilian targets as normal, and wants the international community to change laws in order to accept Israeli aggression on civilians.
“We need to prepare the State of Israel, the IDF and the international community for the fighting styles, the ways of thinking and even the international laws that must adapt to the way in which we must and are entitled to fight,” he said.
