The German Bundestag has passed a resolution describing the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions campaign against Israel as anti-Semitic, claiming some BDS slogans recalled Nazi propaganda.
Palestinians factions said they were disappointed with the resolution and called for Germany not to correct its mistake regarding the Holocaust at the expense of the Palestinians and their cause.
In a joint statement issued by the Palestinian factions, they said: “The resolution is regrettable and marks a black day in the history of human rights and freedom of expression.”
The statement added: “Germany is responsible for its own historic flow against the Jewish people and for the enormous suffering they endured during the last century. However, it must not correct its mistake at the expense of the Palestinians, their rights and freedom.”
Meanwhile, the statement described the Palestinian fight against the Israeli occupation as a struggle for freedom and regaining rights.
“We condemn passing this unfair resolution by the German Bundestag that is against the Palestinian people’s right to resist the Israeli occupation with all means possible, given that boycott is a peaceful means of resistance against the Israeli occupation,” the statement said.
Instead, the Palestinian factions called on Germany to cancel this resolution for it provides support for the Israeli occupation and protects it from being held accountable for crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
The Palestinians factions also said that “this move does not serve security and stability in the region.”
