Israeli warplanes carried out several airstrikes in the Gaza Strip early Saturday after claimed rocket fire from the occupied Palestinian territory.
More than 17 Palestinian, most of them children and women, were rushed to hospitals in Gaza to have trauma treatment.
The Israeli air strikes came after an Israeli claim that a homemade Palestinian rocket was fired from Gaza at an empty area near Israeli settlements east of the coastal enclave.
"The attack was carried out in response to the rocket that was launched from Gaza earlier tonight," the Israeli occupation army said in a statement.
On Friday, hundreds of Palestinians staged protests near the eastern Gaza fence as part of weekly demonstrations against the Israeli 12-year-old blockade.
Since the Gaza rallies began in March last year, more than 270 protesters have been martyred and thousands more wounded by Israeli occupation troops deployed near the buffer zone.
