One peaceful Palestinian protester was killed and 57 others injured by Israeli gunfire in northern Gaza Strip on Friday, Palestinian ministry of health said.
“Alaa Nizar Hamdan, 28, was killed in the east of the northern Gaza city of Jabalia,” the ministry said. “The protester was shot in the chest,” it added.
Meanwhile, 57 were wounded, including 30 children, a woman and a paramedic. Two of the wounded reported in serious conditions.
Thousands of Palestinians on Friday flocked to the security fence to participate in the weekly anti-occupation protests, known as the Great March of Return.
Since start of peaceful protests in March last year, more than 310 protesters have been killed and thousands more wounded by Israeli occupation forces.
Demonstrators demand an end to Israel’s 13-year-old strict Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has shattered the coastal enclave’s economy and deprived its two million inhabitants of free movement in and out from the coastal enclave.
