US Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders suggested that he would give part of the $3.8 billion military aid America gives to Israel to Gaza for humanitarian purposes.
“My solution is, to Israel, if you want military aid you are going to have to fundamentally change your relationship to the people of Gaza,” he said. “I would say that some of the $3.8 billion should go right now to humanitarian aid in Gaza.”
“My proposal in terms of Israeli-Palestinian efforts is not a radical proposal. What is going on in Gaza right now, for example, is absolutely inhumane. It is unacceptable. It is unsustainable,” he added.
Earlier this month Ilhan Omar, along with anti-Israel congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Sanders and Omar are staging a rally on 3 November to “unite supporters of all backgrounds around the fight for economic, environmental and racial justice at the University of Minnesota, Sanders’s campaign announced in an email on Friday.
